The law firm of Sean B. Callender & Co. was
established in the Bahamas on October 1st, 2002; however, its roots were established upwards of 100 years ago. The
name Callender is synonymous with the practice of law in the
Bahamas.
Walter Ernest Savory Callender, K.C.,
the first generation of the Callender legal fraternity,
established his Practice in Nassau, Bahamas at the turn of the 20th
Century. He was joined during the year 1936 by his son, Wren
Ernest Alexander Callender, Q.C. and the father and son team continued
in their practice, until the death of the late W.E.S. Callender, K.C. in
the year 1949. W.E.A. Callender, Q.C., continued as a sole
Practitioner until he was joined by the first member of the third
generation of Callenders, Colin Ernest Callender, in the year 1962.
The Partners of the firm formerly held the positions as Senior Partner
and Senior Associate respectively, of the firm of Callenders & Company,
one of the largest law firms in the Bahamas.
Because of the accelerated growth of the Callenders
& Company since the mid 1980s, the Partners of Sean B. Callender & Co. decided to reestablish themselves as a Family Firm and thus the
birth of the firm on October 1st, 2002.
